Bittermann, Mrs. Ruth Marie (Luhman)
Died Nov 25, 1997

Ruth Marie Bittermann passed away November 25, 1997 in Lancaster, CA, at the age of 79 years. She was born in Muskegon, MI, April 15, 1918. She is survived by her children: Rolland B. Bittermann of Woodland Hills, CA, Sharon R. Kindig of Lancaster, CA, and Debbie Jeffery of Littlerock, CA. She was a loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; also many relatives from the Muskegon area. Services were held Tues., Dec. 2, 1997 at Lancaster United Methodist Church where she was a member. Murphy Mortuary


Robert F. Luhmann
Died Aug 23, 1973

Robert F. Luhmann, 59, of 663 Catawba, died today at Hackley Hospital. He was a Muskegon native, employed as a barber and by Teledyne-Continental Corp. He was a member of the United Reformed Church, the Lovell Moore Lodge No. 182 F&A.M., DeWitt Clinton Consistory 32nd Degree, Saladin Temple of Grand Rapids and Muskegon Commandery No. 22 Knights Templar. Survivors: His wife, Bernice; 1 son, Robert of Ann Arbor; 1 daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) Bennitt of Muskegon; 3 granddaughters, and 1 brother, Ewald Luhmann of Ludington. The service for Mr. Luhmann will be held Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock in the Clock Chapel with the Rev. Louis Benes, Jr. officiating. Interment will be made in Restlawn Cemetery.


Ewald W. "Bud" Luhmann
Died Oct 17, 1997

Ewald W. Luhmann, 79, of 314 N. Harrison Street, Ludington, died Friday, Oct. 17 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Okemos following an extended illness.

Ewald William Luhmann was born Sept. 5, 1918 in Muskegon to Robert H. and Elizabeth A (Zeckzer) Luhmann.  He graduated from Muskegon High School with the class of 1936.

He was married in Grand Rapids on June 18, 1943 to Lennetta L. Lowing and she preceded him in death on July 13, 1993.

He first worked in the shoe department of Hardy's & Grossman Dept. Stre, Tom McAnn Shoe Store, and Continental Aviation during WW11.  In 1949, the couple moved to Ludington where Mr. Luhmann operated The Bootery at 117 S. James St., which later became Waters Shoe Store.  He worked at Berger's Clothing Store on Ludington Avenue and later continued on at Klemm's Menswear.  He retired in 1984.

Ewald Luhmann was a member of the Community Church and served on the Board of Deacons.  He was a member of the Optimist Club, the Ludington Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Hills Golf Club, the Boy Scouts of America and the Tri-County Computer Club.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Betty Jean) Tabor of Okemos, Mich.; one son, David W. (and Roseann) Luhmann of Ludington; four grandchildren, Steven Barnard of Okemos; Sarah Barnard of Muskegon; Patrick Luhmann of Hillsboro, Oregon; Carrie Luhmann of Ludington, one great-grandchild, Samantha Barnard Bush.

Funeral services for Mr. Luhmann are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dorrell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Collins officiating.

Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Mrs. Ewald Luhmann
Died July 13, 1993

Mrs. Ewald “Bud” (Lennetta) Luhmann, 73, of 314 N. Harrison St., died Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center, following an extended illness.

Lennetta Lenwood Lowing was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Sheffield, Ala. As a child she moved with her family to Grand Rapids where she grew up and attended school graduating from Cedar Springs High School in 1938. She attended Davenport Business School, Grand Rapids, and worked for Anaconda in Muskegon as a key punch operator.

She was married June 18, 1943, at Klise Memorial Chapel, Grand Rapids, to Ewald Luhmann and he survives. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Ludington where she worked for Water’s Shoe Store with her husband.

She was a member of the Community Church of Ludington where she taught Sunday School. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Betty Jean) Tabor, Okemos; one son, David (and Roseann) Luhmann, South Lyon; four grandchildren; one sister, Blanche Erickson, Lake Forest, Ill.; three brothers, Larry (and Bert) Lowing, Newaygo; Frank (and Marge) Lowing, Texas; and Harold (and Marie) Lowing, Baldwin; nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Luhmann will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Dorrell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. William Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

The family will be present at the Dorrell Funeral Home to receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Community Church Building Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.


Frank Luhman
Died Dec. 12, 2002

Mr. Frank Luhman, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12. He was born to Otto and Mary Luhman on July 14, 1920 in Muskegon. Mr. Luhman married the former Alma (Becky) Arnold Oct. 26, 1940 in Muskegon.

He owned Lakeside Greenhouses and P.M. Greenhouses in Ludington and worked at Luhman Floral.

Mr. Luhman is survived by his wife, Alma; three sons, Charles of Muskegon and Gordon and Lee both of California; two daughters, Debra of California and Rosemary of Traverse City; two brothers-in-law, George and Harold Arnold of North Muskegon; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two brothers, William and Charles Luhman, and one sister, Dorothy, preceded him in death.

The Young Funeral Home will announce a memorial service at a later date.
